Java toLowerCase() Method

Java Character Class

The toLowerCase() method is used to convert uppercase characters to lowercase.

Syntax

char toLowerCase(char ch)

Parameters

• ch-- The character to be converted.

Return Value

Returns the lowercase form of the converted character, if it exists; otherwise, returns the character itself.

Example

public class Test {

    public static void main(String args[]) {
        System.out.println(Character.toLowerCase('a'));
        System.out.println(Character.toLowerCase('A'));
    }
}

The output of the above program is:

a
a
