The Linux lilo command is used to install the core loader and boot manager.

lilo (Linux loader) is a Linux system core loading program that also has boot management capabilities. When you run the lilo command alone, it reads the lilo.conf configuration file in the /etc/ directory and installs lilo according to its contents.

Syntax

lilo [-clqtV][-b<外围设备代号>][-C<配置文件>][-d<延迟时间>][－D<识别标签>][-f<几何参数文件>][-i<开机磁区文件>][-I<识别标签>][-m<映射文件>][-P<fix/ignore>][-r<根目录>][-R<执行指令>...][-s<备份文件>][-S<备份文件>][-uU<外围设备代号>][-v...]

Parameter Description：

  • -b<peripheral device code> Specifies the peripheral device code where lilo is to be installed.
  • -c Uses compact mapping mode.
  • -C<configuration file> Specifies the lilo configuration file.
  • -d<delay time> Sets the boot delay time.
  • -D<identification label> Specifies the default operating system or system core identification label to start after boot.
  • -f<geometry parameter file> Specifies the disk geometry parameter configuration file.
  • -i<boot sector file> Specifies the boot sector file to use; the default is the boot.b file in the /boot directory.
  • -I<identification label> Displays the location where the system core is stored.
  • -l Generates linear sector addresses.
  • -m<mapping file> Specifies the mapping file.
  • -P<fix/ignore> Determines whether to fix or ignore errors in the partition table.
  • -q Lists the mapped system core files.
  • -r<root directory> Sets the directory to be mounted as the root directory when the system starts.
  • -R<command> Sets the command to be executed first the next time the system boots.
  • -s<backup file> Specifies the backup file.
  • -S<backup file> Forcefully specifies the backup file.
  • -t Does not execute the command; only lists the actions that would actually be performed.
  • -u<peripheral device code> Deletes lilo.
  • -U<peripheral device code> This parameter has a similar effect to the "-u" parameter, but does not check the timestamp.
  • -v Displays the command execution process.
  • -V Displays version information.

Examples

Install lilo to the third primary partition of the first SCSI hard disk, using level 3 mode.

# lilo -b /dev/sda3 -v -v -v

Specify the configuration file and backup file for installing lilo.

# lilo -C /etc/lilo.conf2 -s /boot/boot. Backup
