HTML Server Controls
Definition and Usage
The HtmlInputFile control is used to control the <input type="file"> element, which is used to upload files to the server.
Attributes
| Attribute | Description |
|---|---|
| Accept | A list of acceptable MIME types. |
| Attributes | Returns all attribute name and value pairs of this element. |
| Disabled | Boolean value indicating whether this control is disabled. The default is false. |
| id | The unique id of the element. |
| MaxLength | The maximum number of characters allowed in this element. |
| Name | The name of the element. |
| PostedFile | Gets access to the uploaded file specified by the client. |
| runat | Specifies that this control is a server control. Must be set to "server". |
| Size | The width of the element. |
| Style | Sets or returns the CSS properties applied to the control. |
| TagName | Returns the tag name of the element. |
| Type | The type of the element. |
| Value | The value of the element. |
| Visible | Boolean value indicating whether the control is visible. |
Examples
In this example, we declare an HtmlInputFile control, an HtmlInputButton control, and three HtmlGeneric controls in an .aspx file (remember to nest the controls inside an HtmlForm control). When the submit button is triggered, the submit subroutine is executed. When the file itself is uploaded to the c directory on the server, the file name and file type are displayed on the page:
