Linux whois command

Linux Command Reference

The Linux whois command is used to find and display user information.

The whois command searches for and displays information about a specified account. Since it queries the WHOIS database at Network Solutions, the account name must be registered there to be found, and the name is not case-sensitive.

Syntax

whois [帐号名称]

Examples

Display information for a specified user

# whois root

//查找root用户信息

Query domain description information

# whois .Lx138.COm

Whois Server Version 2.0

Domain names in the .com and .net domains can now be registered
with many different competing registrars. Go to http://www.internic.net
for detailed information.
