Linux renice command

The Linux renice command is used to re-specify the priority of one or more processes (one or more will be determined by the parameters).

Note:Each process has a unique id.

Permissions: All users.

Syntax

renice priority [[-p] pid ...] [[-g] pgrp ...] [[-u] user ...]

Parameter Description：

• -p pid Re-specify the priority of the process whose id is pid
• -g pgrp Re-specify the priority of the process(es) whose process group id is pgrp (one or more)
• -u user Re-specify the priority of the process whose owner is user

Examples

Add 1 to the priority number of processes with process ids 987 and 32, and processes whose owners are daemon and root

renice +1 987 -u daemon root -p 32
