I like weekends yet fear them; laughter and joy are the brief entertainment and relaxation I experience on TV, and after the joy ends, I feel even more keenly the city's coldness and loneliness. Full-fledged wings are the blind confidence of the ivory tower; ignorance of the world is the cruel reality of life. Having left my hometown and wandered for over ten years, moving between so-called big cities for study and work, I do not fear the physical exhaustion, but rather the lack of spiritual support. Wielding the whip and riding home in glory is every man's lifelong pursuit, and lofty pride and self-importance are the arrogance in every man's bones. But as the years soak through, reality eventually smooths away the edges, and the mundane world buries our dreams.
An encouraging smile, a nod of approval, a helping hand raised, an attentive listening—all of these let me see the self before being tainted by the smoky fires of life, and see those grievances that would not make anyone's heart ache.
