Definition and Usage

The tabindex attribute specifies the order of elements when using the 'tab' key for navigation.

Differences Between HTML 4.01 and HTML5

In HTML5, the tabindex attribute can be used on any HTML element (it will validate any HTML element; however, it may not necessarily be useful).

In HTML 4.01, the tabindex attribute can be used on: <a>, <area>, <button>, <input>, <object>, <select>, and <textarea>.

number Specifies the tab order of the element (1 is the first).
