HTML Standards

XHTML is the latest HTML standard, which is HTML 4.01 re-expressed in XML.

Writing pages according to HTML 4.01 can keep your site as close to the XHTML standard as possible.

CSS Standards

For high-quality sites, using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is the preferred way to separate content from style. By using CSS, you can store all the information about page styles in a single document.

All modern web browsers support CSS 1 and CSS 2 standards.

Using CSS can improve the quality and readability of your website across different browsers. It can also greatly reduce your website development costs.

Web Validation

A web validation tool is a software program that checks your website against web standards.

After you use a validation tool to check HTML, XHTML, or CSS documents, the validator will return a list of detected errors according to the standard you selected. Usually, the validator returns the line numbers of the errors found.

WAI - Web Accessibility Initiative

WAI refers to the Web Accessibility Initiative, which was launched by the W3C.

WAI coordinates organizations worldwide to improve the usability of the Internet through six major work areas: technology, guidelines, tools, education, research, and development.

You can improve the quality of your website and make your site usable by more people (and browsers) by writing pages according to WAI guidelines.
