The concept of big data has been hyped for several years, and data scientists are hailed as the sexiest job of the 21st century. But where do these sexy creatures work? What do they do? Which industries need data scientists the most? In an era where everyone wants to become a data scientist, this is a very pressing question. Unfortunately, there is still relatively little statistical data on this in China. We found the following dynamic chart from the foreign data talent community Data Science Central, which shows the industry distribution of data science talent in the United States, and provides some reference for employers who want to recruit data science talent, or for data analysis workers who want to find jobs in the big data field:

From the above chart, it can be seen that software, consulting, finance, education and research, advertising media, construction, recruitment, consumer goods, telecommunications and infrastructure, manufacturing, automotive and transportation, life sciences, gaming, aerospace and defense, mining and energy — these 15 industries are the ones with the most intensive demand for data science talent.

It is worth noting that the hottest big data job is not data scientist. In fact, in an earlier report on IT Manager Network titled "Big Data job market is booming, but data scientists are well-received but not in demand", we learned that although the number of data science-related job postings is surging, enterprises' demand for hiring data scientists is sharply declining. In fact, enterprises are gradually realizing that the real data scientists, if any, either go to large internet companies for high salaries plus equity, or join startup teams. For companies that need to recruit data analysis talent, it is time to revise your unrealistic big data talent recruitment descriptions.
