There are mainly three directions: front-end development, back-end development, and operations. The meanings of the different colors in the image:
- Yellow: Recommended;
- Gray: Learn as much as possible;
- Orange: Choose any one.
As you can see, as a Web developer, regardless of what position you hold, the following skills must be mastered:
- Git, code version control
- SSH；
- HTTP/HTTPs and APIs. If you want to truly become a Web developer, understanding the HTTP protocol is essential;
- Basic command line usage;
- Learn to dig into problems, and develop the habit of finding solutions through self-study when encountering problems. This is especially important;
- Data structures and algorithms. I believe these two courses are typically required in university computer science programs;
- Character encoding;
- GitHub. GitHub (including Google, Stack Overflow) is a treasure trove for Web developers; make good use of it.
Front-end Development
Basics：HTML、CSS 、JavaScript
Frameworks: React, Angular, or Vue
Bundling tools: Webpack and gulp
Advanced: Node.js ecosystem (including Node.js server-side development, npm, etc.)
Back-end Development
In China, you can focus on learning: PHP, Python, Java, Node.js, etc.
Operations Development
Learning Linux well is a basic requirement.
